When you sell photos to guests rather than to the client who booked you, pricing works differently. You're selling to many people at a small price each, and the right price is the one that gets the most guests to say yes without thinking twice.
Three ways to price on PicsZako
- Per photo. Simple and fair. A guest who appears in three photos pays for three. Best for large events like graduations, where each guest is in only a few shots.
- Per album. Group photos into albums (ceremony, reception, portraits) and price each one. Good when guests care about a particular part of the day.
- Per event. One price for everything a guest is in. Works well for weddings and close family events, where a guest might appear in dozens of photos.
Finding your number
Start from what a guest will pay on impulse, right there on their phone. Many photographers already charge individuals around KES 500 when they sell by hand. Because PicsZako makes buying instant and the guest only sees photos they're in, you can often price a little higher than you could over WhatsApp.
Some guidelines (they are starting points, not rules):
- Know your take-home. You keep 75%. At KES 750 a photo, you receive KES 562.
- Price the event, not just the photo. A high-end wedding can carry a higher price than a school event where families are buying for several children.
- Make the bundle the obvious choice. If a single photo costs KES 500, a full-event price around the cost of four or five photos makes "get them all" feel like a deal.
- Test and adjust. Try a price at one event, look at how many guests who found themselves went on to buy, and change it for the next.
Don't forget the booking client
Agree with the client before the event that guests will be able to buy their photos. Some photographers include a set of free downloads for the couple or host in their package, and sell to guests on top.
